This sketchbook of seemingly unrelated vignettes hints at features that seem to mark the lives of those who grow up poor in poor countries. The narrative offers no formulas or solutions --instead, it flows in random pursuit of answers, ultimately unfolding into a series of lyrical epiphanies. The filmmaker’s sharp eye for detail and  the stirring poetic narration turn the images of this film into a moving metaphor for all kinds of global inequity.

Born and raised in Peru, Juan Alejandro Ramírez studied Anthropology in Lima and as a Fulbright scholar in the U.S. After traveling extensively and working as a photographer, Ramírez enrolled in film school in New York. He has since written, directed, photographed, and edited his own films while living and working in various parts of Africa, Asia and Latin America. His work contains a mix of fact and fiction, held together by a rare reflective stance. Ramirez’s films have been included in film festivals all over the world and have won a number of international awards.
