They are a small minoritysoldiers who dare to defy military authority and discipline; soldiers who disobey orders. These men weren’t drafted, they volunteered, because they believed in honour and in the values held by the militaryuntil they were ordered to torture, to kill unarmed civilians, to rape or condone the rape of innocent women. These soldiers were instructed to hide the evidence of their crimes in the interest of their nations and to protect their brothers-in-arms. The price these men paid for remaining true to their convictions is more than they ever bargained for.
Patricio Henríquez was born in Chile in 1948. In 1971, he worked as journalist and director at Universidad de Chile Television. During the Coup d’État on September 11, 1973, he was arrested and imprisoned. Released two months later, he flew to Canada in 1974, settled in Montréal, and pursued his career as a television director and producer. In 1995, he founded, with two partners, Macumba International Inc., an independent production company with “an open-eye on” the world.
